Mindy Taliaferro, NCIDQ

My career in Art Direction and Styling was born from what I call my great “professional pivot” from my career as an Interior Designer.

As an Interior Designer, I earned my NCIDQ Certificate which proved my expertise in understanding and ability to apply current codes established to protect public health, safety, and welfare on each project. I worked on many different project types from multi-family, restaurant and bar to residential. I worked on every phase of a project from programming and schematic design where a vision for the project was created, to design development where I selected furniture, fixtures and finishes. I also created detailed construction documents and realistic 3D renderings. I was able to oversee projects during the construction administration phase, which allowed me to use my problem-solving skills in real time!

Always at odds with my two loves, I left my job as a residential designer to work with my husband at Dowell & Co., a small creative studio focused on unique lifestyle and brand photography. I found that the faster-paced projects were more my speed and not having to follow strict codes and guidelines allowed me to stretch my creativity further!

When I’m not working, you can find me up early and in line at a local estate sale looking for treasures and building my prop library or out roaming the mountains looking for dinosaur tracks with my partner. I have a sweet pup named Tybee and a kitty named Smokey who believe the world revolves around them.
